Jewelry designer Zhong Hua awakens the inheritance of culture and emotion with contemporary natural language.

The successive broadcast of Story of Yanxi Palace and Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace, the palace dramas, has caused the explosion of styles and discussions. Besides the ups and downs, the exciting plot of the palace fight and the outstanding acting skills of the actors, people also pay attention to the aesthetic return of traditional culture and art.

It is worth mentioning that the decorations used by the concubines in the play, such as an embroidery, a flower, a hair pin and a pair of earrings, are all exquisitely made. We sigh and envy the dignity and exquisiteness of the royal life in the past, and this attention seems to have been broken and separated in the inheritance.

Fortunately, now, someone is already taking action to awaken our lost beauty. Zhong Hua, the designer of art jewelry in China and the chief design consultant of cultural jewelry in the Forbidden City, has combined the 5,000-year history and culture of China, and also expressed the unconstrained contemporary design concept.

In her interpretation of a recently completed hairpin work, she said, "I try to make history fashionable and classics young." The beauty she tells with jewelry lies not in the jewelry itself, but in the story behind the ornaments, which comes from the natural touch of life.

I switched to jewelry design because my heart was ignited.

Zhong Hua, who just came to study in Britain, got her wish and entered the fashion design major of London Institute of Fashion, but after two months of study, she was disappointed by repeated study without any challenge. When she was confused, she was shocked by various art and jewelry exhibitions in London. Wood, paper, plastic and other materials, the line structure in the building, can be applied to jewelry design.

Zhong Hua’s heart was instantly ignited, and she found the direction she wanted to develop, so she transferred to the Central Saint Martin College to study the metal technology of contemporary jewelry. Next, every day here is particularly interesting for her. Teachers who are over 60 years old, all kinds of novel tools, and everyone’s love and dedication to jewelry design.

"As a designer who has a clear artistic pursuit of jewelry design, he needs persistence and simplicity." After two years of study, Zhong Hua has mastered solid manual skills and the application of new materials.

Everything fascinated her, and what influenced her most was the way of thinking of design. She is very concerned about the intention behind the ornaments and the proper emotional expression. "Jewelry is something with the designer’s life, and only hand-made can show my inner world most directly and comprehensively."

Life and nature are the best stories.

After returning to China, Zhong Hua started her career with handmade high-grade jewelry customization. Customers have developed from their own relatives and friends to celebrity star circles, with Zhang Ziyi, Li Bingbing, Lu Han, LEE JOON GI, etc.

Because she grew up in the military compound and the unrestrained growth environment, she especially loved life and was close to nature. Therefore, in her creation, life and nature have become an eternal topic to express love stories.

A girl who works as a chef in a French restaurant, Zhong Hua designed a ring for her, with anise, a common seasoning in nature, as the design subject, in a flower-like shape, and a girl with a magic wand was also outlined on it.

A father prepared a gift for his married daughter. Zhong Hua designed a crown, which was organized into a regular love shape with the natural and smart posture of spring water splashing, representing love and responsibility, as well as the best wishes of eternal knot.

A couple who are parents for the first time want to make a necklace for their children. Zhong Hua expresses endless blessings to the children with a long life lock branded with parents’ fingerprints, and it is also a warm ornament about love.

Every piece of jewelry made by Zhong Hua for her clients has a story, and she knows herself from it by getting to know her clients.

It is not a simple re-enactment, but a serious inheritance.

A piece of haute couture jewelry with unique personality has quickly attracted the attention of the outside world. Especially in the internationally acclaimed works such as "Running the Dragon and Running the Horse", we have seen the essence of China’s traditional culture and the mutual blending with western design concepts.

The rising popularity has enabled her to go from haute couture to commercial creation, and thus she has forged an indissoluble bond with the Palace Museum. From facing individuals to facing the public, she started this challenge with the determination of "making the royal family everyone".

Zhong Hua believes that many Chinese people have not really understood the importance of a piece of jewelry as a heritage. So, she spent a year getting to know the Forbidden City, looking for the emotion behind the cultural relics, and carefully polishing every piece of jewelry. She hoped that through a small piece of jewelry, the public could understand the profoundness of Chinese culture.

In her view, this is not a simple re-enactment, but a serious inheritance.

With the promotion of public aesthetics, including the awakening and practice of China’s original design led by designers, it will save the Chinese traditional culture and craft that will be lost. Enamel, Diancui, Qi Diao … … Zhong Hua is looking for ways to interpret these traditional crafts, and uses the precipitation of different cultures in her bones to convey beautiful feelings.

She believes that jewelry is not a symbol of wealth, and the public can enjoy and own it. And integrating art into life is a luxury lifestyle that she thinks meets the needs of contemporary people.

When everyone is willing to slow down in a hurry, beauty and design will gradually penetrate into public life. This "luxury" has nothing to do with money, it is a natural spiritual sustenance and a higher pursuit of life details.

"Beauty" lies in the heart, and "utensil" can be seen in the form. Zhong Hua believes that in the future, jewelry can inherit more emotions and memories, and the beauty of life can be better understood and expressed.
