　　Recently, Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee held a meeting to study and deploy flood control and relief work. The Supreme Leader presided over the meeting and delivered an important speech.

　　The meeting stressed that at present, China is in the critical period of "seven downs and eight highs" flood control, and the pressure of flood control peaks, dykes and waterlogging drainage in the Yangtze River and other basins is not reduced. The Yellow River, Huaihe River, Haihe River and Songliao River basins may have serious floods, and the superimposed typhoon will enter an active period, making the flood control situation more severe and complicated. All relevant regions, departments and units should always tighten the string of flood control and flood relief, firmly grasp the initiative in work, and resolutely win the tough battle of flood control and flood relief.
