A number of colleges and universities no longer recruit "college-upgraded" schools. Response: Preparations are under way for transfer.

Recently, it has been reported that many colleges and universities no longer recruit "undergraduate students", and there are various news about colleges and universities stopping recruiting "undergraduate students" on the Internet, which has caused many students and parents in higher vocational colleges to worry. Did the undergraduate colleges really stop recruiting "undergraduate students"? Do students from higher vocational colleges still have the opportunity to enter the ideal undergraduate colleges for further study? Recently, the reporter conducted an interview in Jiangsu, a major province of higher education.

The reporter interviewed a number of undergraduate colleges in Jiangsu, and verified the enrollment situation of "college-upgraded undergraduate". It was found that in 2022, Jiangsu Province selected outstanding junior college students to transfer to undergraduate study plan for normal enrollment, and the enrollment quota increased by more than 2,000 on the basis of 2021.

For a long time, "upgrading from college to undergraduate" has always been regarded as a "small college entrance examination" by students in higher vocational colleges, and it is an opportunity to change from a junior college degree to an undergraduate degree. Although the competition for further studies is not small, there are not a few students who face difficulties. According to incomplete statistics, more than 30% of students in higher vocational colleges choose "upgrading from college to undergraduate" for the purpose of further study. The admission rate of Jiangsu’s "college-upgraded undergraduate" has exceeded 40% all the year round.

The reporter learned from the Education Department of Jiangsu Province that on December 3, 2021, the department issued the Notice of the Education Department of Jiangsu Province on Doing a Good Job of "Specialized Transfer" for Colleges and Universities in 2022, and made clear arrangements for receiving institutions and plans, selecting objects and methods. The reporter looked up the schedule of "specialized transfer-to-undergraduate" branch schools of ordinary universities in Jiangsu Province in 2022. This year, 50 ordinary universities in Jiangsu participated in the "specialized transfer-to-undergraduate" enrollment plan, including Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications and Nanjing Forestry University, as well as regional key universities such as Jiangsu University, Yangzhou University and Jiangsu Normal University.

According to statistics, this year, 50 "specialized transfer" enrollment units in Jiangsu Province enrolled a total of 32,795 students, while in 2021, 53 "specialized transfer" enrollment units in Jiangsu Province enrolled 30,335 students, an increase of 2,460 students this year compared with last year.

However, some parents also reported that compared with the schedules of "specialized transfer programs" for colleges and universities in Jiangsu Province in 2021 and 2022, several independent undergraduate course colleges in Jiangsu Province, such as Chengxian College of Southeast University, Zhongbei College of Nanjing Normal University and Suzhou Institute of Technology of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, did stop recruiting "specialized transfer programs" this year.

In order to explore the reasons for stopping the recruitment of "specialized transfer", the reporter called these independent colleges respectively. The staff in charge of enrollment of Suzhou Institute of Technology of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology and Zhongbei College of Nanjing Normal University told the reporter that the reason for stopping the recruitment of "specialized transfer" was that the school was preparing for the transfer.

Teacher Li, the Admissions and Employment Guidance Center of Suzhou Institute of Technology, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, explained to reporters that because the school is currently promoting the transfer work and is expected to be transferred to Suzhou Institute of Technology in the future, it has suspended the enrollment of "specialized transfer" this year. "The plan announced by the Ministry of Education shall prevail in the end. If the school is successfully transferred, it may be restarted under the new school name in the future ‘ Special edition ’ Work. " Teacher Li said. (Economic Daily reporter Jiang Bo)
