According to the data released by the National Film Bureau on February 18th, the box office of the Spring Festival in 2024 (February 10th-February 17th) reached 8.016 billion yuan, exceeding the box office achievement of 7.842 billion yuan in the Spring Festival in 2021, setting a new box office record for the Spring Festival, with 163 million people watching movies. From the box office performance of a single film, YOLO leads the way, while Pegasus 2, Boonie Bears: Time Twist and Article 20 rank second to fourth respectively. At the same time, surprisingly, four films have announced their withdrawal from the Spring Festival, which is also rare.

Spring Festival box office set a new record
In the Spring Festival of 2024, a total of nine films were released, namely: YOLO’s Pegasus 2, Boonie Bears: Time Twist, Article 20, Viva La Vida, The Movie Emperor, Huang Qi: the cat from heaven, the lower bound of the canopy of Bajie, and Breaking the War. This is the third film of the Spring Festival in 2024 that announced the withdrawal of the file.

On February 14th, the film Viva La Vida directed by Han Yan and starring Peng Yuchang and Li Gengxi was the first to announce its withdrawal from the Spring Festival, and it was rescheduled for March 30th. On February 16th, the animated film Huang Qi: The God of Wealth Cat announced "See you again in the Jianghu". As of press time, the box office of Viva La Vida exceeded 96.25 million yuan, and the box office of Huang Qi: The God of Wealth Cat was 921,600 yuan.
As the main producer of "Viva La Vida", Lianrui Film said that there was a major mistake in the selection of the schedule.
