"Dilemma"


Realism is something I always insist on expressing. The difference is that the expressions of women’s dilemma in previous movies are all about the dilemma and how people face it in the dilemma. But in Broken Bridge, women began to resist.


On the other hand, this film also expresses a classical feeling. Whether it is Gou Jian’s hard work or Shi Jianqiao’s revenge for his father, "revenge" itself is a very classical thing, but in today’s era, it will become more complicated.



My previous films had less criminal elements, but I have always been a lover of criminal psychology and I also like to watch various social cases.When you study many cases, you will find that it is not that simple, there is no simple bad guy, and there is no simple good guy. This is exactly what I like.


Just like Meng Chao in Broken Bridge, he is not a complete good man. He has committed crimes, but he still has the pure and chivalrous "righteousness" in his heart, which is what I said, classical feelings.



I don’t just want to make a crime movie, I want to reverse it and have suspense. No, I’d rather see the people in a case, what their relationship is like, how the perpetrator became the perpetrator, and how the victim became the victim.


"lens"


I have cooperated with the photography director for more than ten years, and it is very tacit. At first, when we were discussing how to express the sense of reality, we still thought of the simple expression before, and we couldn’t wait to use the 1:1.85 frame.


But when Jian Zeng saw that there was a mention of "candid camera" in the script, he said that the cat’s eye on the door was seriously distorted in the things we usually photographed, which was actually a kind of "reality", so he proposed to try a wide-angle lens.



I had doubts at first, fearing that the wide-angle lens would be too dramatic. It happened that I was training with the actors during that time, so I asked them to try what it was like to shoot it.


It happened to be the most tangled scene, and the distorted lens didn’t have the so-called distortion, but externalized their hearts, so I decided to use this.



The "monitoring" lens is already in the script, but since I started to use wide angle, I have turned many empty mirrors into "monitoring pictures".


This is a metaphor, much like a "God’s perspective" overlooking the world. Wen Xiaoyu, Meng Chao, Zhu Fangzheng, you and I are all in the "monitoring", and good and evil are rewarded.


"cold rain"


Broken Bridge shows the extreme humanity in a depressed environment, and everyone is in a dark predicament, which corresponds to the incessant rain and dark tone.



The difficulty of rain play lies in the rain play itself, and all departments should cooperate. The master in charge of "Rain" in the crew is very experienced in the industry, and we all call him "Rain God".


First of all, his rain is very real, not the kind that seems to be poured down at first sight, it is layered. Moreover, it is difficult to see a person who specializes in the special effects of rain like him, and he will be meticulous about what different effects several pipes will have.


My request is very detailed: can it slowly go from no rain to rain, and then slowly turn into moderate rain? In the process, he basically collapsed, but he finally worked it out.



There is also the problem that the camera is flooded. Our photographer wears a raincoat from beginning to end, and the camera is also wrapped in a raincoat.


Although there are so many difficulties, "rain" is of great help to the actors. When the rain falls on them, many of his "self" States will be broken, especially when he has been immersed in the rain, the gloomy and restless things in his heart will naturally rise, which is virtually a help to the performance.


"curing"


When I work with an actor, I don’t pay much attention to what he has filmed before. I just want to see him in person, see how much cooperation space he has with me, and see what similarities he has with Meng Chao.


What I saw was a 20-year-old boy. He had that kind of habitual manners, but once you told him about this character, once you asked him to speak Chongqing dialect, once he stopped laughing, you suddenly found that the malicious thing in his heart came out.



He also told many stories about himself and his grandfather when he was growing up. I think there is one advantage, that is, he has never actually left life. Although he may gradually grow into an idol that everyone thinks, when I see him, I think he is an actor, and I treat him as an actor.


Before every movie, I will take several stages, and each stage will take about a week to do some integration training.



Actors will exchange roles. For example, Meng Chao will ask some questions about Wen Xiaoyu today and replace them the next day. I will plant some seeds in their hearts and let them grow slowly.


Because the movie is not a daily state, we have never experienced it, but a non-daily and very cruel psychological state. Let them grow out of their hearts, so as to be credible.



When did you think they really "became" Meng Chao and Xiaoyu? I think the process from script to video is actually a "pickling" process.For example, we putsmallvictoriousThrow it in the garage and let him completely mix with the oil stains and the particularly pungent smell.



I was particularly impressed. I filmed the scene where they talked under the big truck. When I squatted under the car and told them about the drama, I felt dizzy and vomited for a long time.

"Little Wolf"


Meng Chao is like a little wolf, because only by being wild can he survive.Imagine what he has experienced from his teens to his twenties now. After much contempt and bullying, and living in a completely deserted ruin, in this environment, his teeth must be sharper and he must rely on a wolf nature to survive.



I also told Karry that you are not practicing your family, and all your moves are the feeling of fighting in the street and desperately trying to survive. You fight to win, not to move.

In the scene where Xiao Kai was kicked down, there was a high gap. He really "ah". The voice you heard was not suitable, and he slammed his head.


He often says, director, can you have another one? I really think this kid is very energetic. He has skills, sensibility, sensitivity and improvisation, but he still wants to plunge down.


I think he will definitely succeed in the future, and I have seen his strength.


"white rabbit"


If Meng Chao is a wolf, Xiaoyu is a white rabbit.She has always been blinded and controlled by Zhu Fangzheng.emotionit may not be a bad ideaGuilt or not, she is well protected.


Of course, this "protection" is quoted. When she knew that her father had been murdered, she entered a very dangerous jungle full of wild animals. Even Gan Xiaoyang was a wild animal.


She wants to "bite" for herself. So she’s like a white rabbit. Finally, the white rabbit showed its teeth!



Chunchun’s understanding of this character is beyond my imagination. After reading the script, she cried for a long time and wrote a long letter about the similarities between Xiaoyu and her — — The kind of obsession in my heart, I felt that she was the only one.


I also think that she has the qualities of a good actress, and she is a little desperate. The feeling of throwing herself out, even if it is hurt, sometimes really hurts her.



"Sister"


There is a detail in the movie — — Meng Chao’s "Bao Shao Fish", which was taught by his sister, is a kind of memory and nostalgia.


Meng Chao escaped from Yunnan, so Karry specially studied Yunnan dialect. He actually read the poem in Yunnan dialect and read the night as "Lotus Leaf", which is the accent of Yunnan dialect.



He always felt guilty for not saving his sister, so when he saw Xiaoyu, he felt that Xiaoyu could not be another "sister".


Revenge is an obsession. I think Mr. Fang has a very good saying. He thinks that Meng Chao was born again at the last moment.


When he fled, he was a "living dead man", and there was no hope in his heart. Xiaoyu may have lit the flame of some kind of emotion, which is not love, but something that is the closest and most connected with the same life in some human emotion.



So the kiss in the movie doesn’t mean love, but there are many derived meanings in it.


At that time, a lot of shots were taken, and the front was dark. Later, a light was added and several shots were taken, but in the end, I decided to use the dark one, because that was what happened in the dark. In such a dark event, two people were each other’s light.


"Poetry"


I am a documentary filmmaker. I once found an old lady reading Haizi’s poems in the field.I cried at once, and I felt that some people in this world still love poetry, and poetry is not dead. Just for a moment, let me decide to use it.


Meng Chao has an interesting saying. He will say how can anyone like poetry? But he finally read his sister’s poem, which shows that he believes in this thing. He believes in poetry and light.



Another idealist is Wen Liang, the father of Wen Xiaoyu. Many people would choose to compromise in his situation, but he didn’t do that.


Chunlin Mo, the actor who plays Wen Liang, is also an idealist. He writes songs with poems, and he insists on opening a bookstore, which makes me very moved.


Poetry is our obsession. Poetry should not disappear, and neither should idealists.



At that time, I happened to hear one of his songs in Yi dialect, just like the soul is singing, so I told him this idea. He rearranged the music and incorporated Poems in the Night.
